I really enjoyed Alterman’s Gambit Guide because it does a great job of teaching readers how to use the initiative that comes from a variety of gambit lines. Quality Chess – Run by Jacab AAgaard and John Shaw, they are famous for their incredibly deep Grandmaster Opening series. New in Chess – is well known for their yearbooks and is also a publisher of some quality chess books. I’d like to write a review about it at some point. In particular, I enjoyed their series Wojo’s Weapons which examines how Aleksander Wojtkiewicz was so incredibly efficient at beating club players and winning weekend tournaments in the US. Amateur To IM is also a great book that I think is bit misunderstood. Moongoose Press – has a unique collection of books. – Publishers of some terrific, mainly historical, chess books. Gambit Publications – Homepage of the chess book publisher Gambit, who have brought us great recent books from John Nunn, Paul Motwani, and John Watson, among others. For the last few years, they have been publishing electronic versions of their books for PC’s with chessbase and an ipad version that I enjoy quite a bit. Cyrus Lakdawala has written many of them and is one the very best chess authors.
